Is The presidency wrong about the economy?

Image
Some sources in the media have been quoted to suggest that  THERE is a big error of fact in what President Muhammadu Buhari was quoted to have said after meeting with some of his Ministers who briefed him on the state of the economy after his returned from the UK. After listening to them, the President expressed happiness about the  improved the state of economy. I wonder if it is the same  Nigerian economy  they spoke about because from the shoe wearers’ perspective, the economy of Nigeria has made people mad, creates boredom, makes the previously powerful powerless, the respected to lose respect and the cheerful very angry and deadly. Nigeria’s economy has brought out the beast in many people. In this piece, I employ interpretive analysis of the Abolore Adigun’s (9ce) recently released song titled ‘Economy’ to underscore how popular culture contributes to the present understanding and debate on the true state of the Nigerian economy. Do you think peace will ever return to the north again?

Image
The recent report from the camp of  The Nigerian Army,  on Saturday,  expressed misgivings over attempts by those it referred to as Boko Haram sympathizers to denigrate its patriotic efforts at decimating the terrorists, checkmating their murderous exploits and clearing them out of the North East. The Army said, the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (Shiites Islamic Group) wrote to the United States Government, criticizing it for planning to sell Super Tucano Aircraft to Nigerian Airforce, saying the US should rescind the decision as the military would use them to perpetrate atrocities against the innocent. With all these reports Do you think there is a reason for anyone to be  sympathetic toward the boko haram sect? Do you think in truth the army are performing atrocities with the weapons? What do you think about these war on insecurity of the north? Will the north ever be peaceful again? As always we love your comments and feedback Nigeria is ours to make great! ...

Reports circulating around in the media has it that O il  prices rose  yesterday as strong global refining margins and the reopening of United States Gulf Coast refineries provided a more bullish outlook after sharp drops due to Storm Harvey. Brent had gained 82 cents to 54.20 dollars a barrel by 1215 GMT. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were up 55 cents at 49.21 dollars a barrel. “Prices are extending the momentum seen in the last few days due to a number of U.S. refineries restarting after Harvey,” said Harry Tchilinguirian, Head of Commodity Markets Strategy at BNP Paribas. Many refineries, pipelines and ports that were knocked out by Harvey 10 days ago are restarting. But traders remained wary of Hurricane Irma, rated the most powerful Category 5 storm and hea...

Do you think there is still subsidy?

Image
The reports from Petroleum  marketers announcing, in their communiqué of August 29, 2017, that they would commence massive retrenchment, unless government pays their over $2bn outstanding invoices, and also settles interest charges, on delayed payment and related exchange rate differentials. Nonetheless, The government’s present lean revenue expectations may compel the need, to additionally borrow N 720bn domestically or $2bn externally and oppressively compound the already crippling deficit of N 2.32tn in the N 7.4tn 2017 budget. The question  is with the current information Do you feel the government  should totally remove the  subsidy?  Do you feel it should  be left?  And if so how can  the debt be paid? Do you think its possible for the  price of crude products to be reduced without using subsidy? Nigeria is ours and ours  to make great! As always  we love you comments and email keep them coming!

Buhari already changing things?...How has the president's return being impacting the country?

Image
The return to the country of the president has been met with a lot of optimism, as it looks like the country can now finally move forward with its restructuring agenda. Even the capital market smiled with the recent reports that  The naira, yesterday, further appreciated in the  parallel market even as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) injected $297 million into the interbank foreign exchange market. These looks like a welcome development once again as it clearly looks as a step in the right direction But other camps have been unmoved with the recent turn of events stating it is just the country trying to get back to the where it was economically before the buhari era. Now the question is Do you think the return of the president has been having a positive result on the country? Do you think these is nothing compared to the diverse issues being felt by the country? Do you see Nigeria moving in the right direction? Or is it all one big mirage created by the elect to fool ...
