What is really the cause of sub-standard man power in the labour market
There is a popular saying Nigerian graduates are unemployable, This may be a bitter pill to swallow when it comes from foreign companies but when it comes from firms in the country, it is unacceptable as most of these manpower where educated within the country! Pointing a clear finger towards the educational system as these comments are indirectly calling the educational system of the country as inadequate.
Take examples the below statement was culled from the vanguard after an interview with a managing director in the aviation sector
IN order to allay the fears that inadequate manpower in the aviation sector may begin to take its toll on safety and security, the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, has intensified efforts to enhance the training of personnel in its agency. This was demonstrated recently when the Managing Director took steps to address personnel shortage in quality manpower supply.
Do you think the fault lies with the schools or the students?
Or rather is it that the schools are doing a good job to there capabilities but lack infrastructure etc?
Or rather is it that the schools are doing a good job to there capabilities but lack infrastructure etc?
Do you think the government should concentrate more on the schools rather than on retraining already employed manpower?
